Ray F. Keyser, Jr.

Ray F. Keyser, Jr. of Chelsea, Orange County, Republican, was born in Chelsea August 17, 1927. Occupation: attorney. Educated at elementary school in Chelsea, Chelsea High School one year; graduated from Montpelier High School, 1945; Tufts College, 1946-1953 graduating with LL.B. Degree. He amd his wife Joan have two sons and one daughter. Member of Vermont and American Bar Associations; Masons, American Legion, Delta Upsilon (College), Delta Theta Phi (Legal), Eastern Star, Farm Bureau.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; town auditor, 1952-59; as General Counsel for the Vermont Marble Company from 1965-70 and as CEO and Chairman of the Board from 1970-79. In 1980 he set up the law office of Keyser and Crowley; He served on the Federal Reserve board in Boston from 1967-72; as Director of Vermont Public Service and chair of the Board from 1980-97; Director of Vermont Electric Power, 1990-97; Director of Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power, 1982-97; Director and former chair of the National Association of Manufacturers, 1078-92; Director of SKI Ltd, 1980-96. He was a Page in the House in 1939, a member of the House 1955 and 1957 and Speaker of the House in 1959. He was a member of the Commission on Interstate Cooperation in 1955 and chairman from 1957 to 1959; and was a member of the Board of Managers of the Council of State Governments from 1957 to 1959. He served as Governor from 1961-1963.
